Central London Offices – Bermondsey Street SE1
A decision was made in 2009 to move from our offices in Upminster to Central London in order to maximise exposure to the central London fit out market. We are based in Bermondsey Street, a 5-minute walk from London Bridge Station.
Diverse Client Base
Our clients are varied: main contractors and building companies, art galleries, auction houses, restaurants, gyms, accountants offices, event spaces and architects have all employed us to work on their premises.
Safety and Quality
Over the years, the industry has tightened its protocols and we have obtained Contractors Health and Safety (CHAS) accreditation. Having a SSIP recognised accreditation demonstrates how seriously safety is taken at bwdl. We ensure all of our workforce have CSCS cards and relevant training. Our material suppliers are chosen for excellent customer service, reliability and good quality plant.
When you employ bwdl, you not only employ our expertise but you also employ years of experience and relationships that have been carefully built to maximise efficiency whilst keeping our team safe.
Expert Management Team
The logistics and management of labour and fast problem solving are paramount to doing a job efficiently. If there are issues onsite, and changes occur, we respond to instructions as quickly as possible, informing you of costs so you know where you stand.
Award Winning Company
bwdl is a member of FIS, which was born out of the amalgamation of two associations the FPDC and AIS. bwdl has always been an active member of the FPDC, and saw its now retired founder, Brian Woolnough, as its president. As a company we have won awards for works carried out at the BBC Mailbox in Birmingham, and also at Jefferies Bank in the City of London.
The quality of work has always been of upmost priority, and bwdl keeps to the same principles that won us those awards. Before FIS, bwdl was a member of both the AIS and FPDC.

Frequently Asked Questions
From time to time people ask us questions so we thought we would put a selection of those on here.
What kind of clients do you work with?
We have worked with many different companies over the years; mainly medium to large main contractors such as ISG, Willmott Dixon, Mitie, Vinci and Lend Lease. We also work directly for clients in art galleries, gyms, housing associations and financial companies.
How quickly can you turn around a tender?
Depending on the size, complexity of a project, and the information supplied, we usually say around week.
I own a residential property and would require new ceilings or internal walls. Can you help?
As a rule we do not work for residential property owners, mainly because the size of the projects falls beneath what we are set up for. It also means we will be more expensive than a regular domestic builder.
However if your project entails more work than just a couple of rooms and you would like specialists to carry out your planned works, please feel free to contact us.
I have a project and would like some rates for walls and ceilings. Can you help?
In order to price a project we need some information first. For example, partition plan drawings, reflected ceiling plans and detail drawings. Detailed specifications for the elements of the works you would like us to price, and ideally a quantified bill.
Following that, a site visit is the best way for us to give you the most accurate price as we can advise on any foreseeable issues thus avoiding any unexpected costs.
We don’t quote prices over the phone as every job is unique.
I am a subcontractor and I’m interested in working for you. What do I need to do?
Firstly, we are always looking for exceptional people to join our team. What we need from you is the following:
Detailed CV, list of accreditation’s and qualifications, first aid, PASMA, IPAF etc. We operate a 100% CSCS card system, which now requires contractors to have an NVQ. We also ask that you provide your insurance details.
We only approve contractors who have supplied all of the above.
